Terms of Use

These terms apply to your use of Porterville Residents Directory. By using the reference pages or linked search paths, you accept these conditions. If they are not acceptable, please leave the service and contact the responsible public custodian directly.

1. What This Reference Is

Porterville Residents Directory is a privately operated information service. It describes and links to Tulare County, City of Porterville, California, court, library, archive, and directory sources that may show who lived or held a recorded role in Porterville. It does not host government records and is not connected to an office, court, library, or records custodian.

2. Rules for Using This Service

Use the service only for lawful, responsible purposes. You may not use the pages, widgets, or anything reached through them to:

  • Stalk, harass, intimidate, threaten, expose, or harm a person.
  • Find a person protected by a restraining or protective order.
  • Commit identity theft, fraud, impersonation, or another offense.
  • Make a decision regulated by the FCRA, including credit, employment, housing, insurance, or tenant screening.
  • Scrape, copy, or republish the content at scale.
  • Disrupt the service, evade security, or interfere with its operation.

3. No Consumer Reporting Agency

This service is not a consumer reporting agency under the Fair Credit Reporting Act, 15 U.S.C. section 1681 and following. The pages and linked search results are not consumer reports. They may not be used to decide eligibility for credit, employment, housing, insurance, or another purpose covered by the FCRA.

4. Outside Links

Government portals, libraries, courts, sponsored search widgets, and other third-party services operate under their own terms and privacy notices. Porterville Residents Directory does not control their content, uptime, prices, data handling, or search results. Check the destination before submitting information.

5. No Warranties

The service is offered on an “as is” and “as available” basis. No warranty is made that a page, record description, fee, coverage year, office detail, linked portal, or search result is accurate, complete, current, or continuously available.

6. Limits on Liability

To the fullest extent allowed by law, the operators are not liable for direct, indirect, incidental, consequential, special, or similar damages arising from use of this service or an outside resource, including an action taken from a record found through it.

7. Indemnification

You agree to defend and hold the operators harmless from claims, demands, losses, and reasonable attorney fees arising from your misuse of the service or breach of these terms.

8. Intellectual Property

The original writing, design, logo, and layout belong to the service or its licensors and are protected by applicable intellectual-property law. Linking to a page and quoting a short attributed passage is welcome. Full-page republication or systematic copying is not.

9. Changes to These Terms

Updated terms may be posted here when the service or its legal obligations change. Continuing to use the pages after an update indicates acceptance of the revised terms.

10. Ending Access

The operators may block, limit, or end access for a user who violates these terms, abuses a search feature, or threatens service security. That action may occur without advance notice.

11. Governing Law

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of California, without applying its conflict-of-law rules. California's public-records framework is the California Public Records Act, Government Code division 10, sections 7920.000 through 7931.000. That law governs requests to a public agency; it does not turn this private reference into a custodian.

12. Severability

If a court finds one provision unenforceable, the remaining provisions continue to operate to the extent the law permits.

13. Questions

Questions about these terms may be sent through the Contact page. Questions about a deed, voter file, court case, vital certificate, or directory volume belong with the office or library that holds it.
